Former Super Eagles Chief Coach, Christian Chukwu has commended the efforts of the Sports Minister, Sunday Dare and the NFF President; Amaju Pinnick on their patriotic zeal to ensure Nigeria qualifies for the forthcoming World Cup football tournament in Qatar later in the year.
In a telephone conversation the former Eagles captain added that the current bids by the duo to reach out to the players and spoke into them assurances and confidence in their upcoming World Cup play-off against Black Stars of Ghana spoke volumes of well calculated strategies that would go along way to cushion and prepare the boys headlong.
The former Rangers International coach insists that this step was the right way to go and appealed to all stakeholders to rally round the team in this crucial moment of theirs for optimum result.
“Let us face it, the steps taken by Dare and Amaju worth commendation. Truth is that both men have shown leadership and so the Nigerian fans and sundry must support their efforts to that effect. No doubt the road is rough but with the way and manner they have started the journey showed they knew what they are doing and way also to go about it. We saw Amaju physically with the boys and then the Minister talking to them via zoom. What else do you expect from committed leaders? They leading from the front,” Chukwu said.
Chukwu stressed that they started by the injection or beef up of the team’s technical bench by bringing in Emmanuel Amuneke to support the technical adviser, Austin Eguaveon and in my humble thinking, that formula will work wonders. The two were teammates and has pledged to work together for the love of the game and country.
He further pointed out that the kind of five star supports being provided by the Dare and Amaju including their teams are heart warming. He also said that the reaction by the players to go all out to secure the sole World Cup ticket further signal the zeal and re-energised Super Eagles.
He told Daily Sports that the inclusion of the players that were not at the recently concluded AFCON would act as moral boaster for the team as it will be in full strength to face Ghana challenge. All these moves to have a full house for the play off are a move that brings hope and expectations of great result and urged Dare and Amaju never to relent until the goal is won.
