Players of Heartland Football Club of Owerri, Imo State, on Wednesday, took to the street in the state capital, asking the state government to pay their 11 months arrears of salaries and allowances.
They protested at the main entrance of the club located at the ever-busy Wetheral Road.
The players who didn’t speak to journalists carried placards with various inscriptions.
Some of the inscriptions on the placards read: ‘It is our right to be paid after work’, ‘A worker deserves his 11 months unpaid salaries and allowances’, ‘Pay us our salaries’, ‘Heartland Football Club players deserve their salaries and allowances from the Imo State Government’. (Punch)
