Newcastle United have made contact with Manchester United about a potential move for Jesse Lingard, according to reports.
The Magpies have been linked with the attacking midfielder since the takeover was made official, but they have now stepped up their efforts to secure his signature.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the club have now made contact with the Red Devils in regards to potentially signing the England international in the upcoming transfer window
However, it was noted that things are very much open in regards to the race to sign him, meaning Newcastle could face competition.
Lingard did have an opportunity to join West Ham United in the summer after a successful loan period, but he opted to stay with Manchester United to fight for his position.
However, the 28-year-old is yet to start a game in the Premier League this season, although he does have 12 appearances across all competitions. (Sports Mole)
