Osimhen Worth His Huge Transfer Fee — Branca

By Daily Sports on October 29, 2021

Former Inter Milan sporting director Marco Branca has claimed that Napoli’s Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has proven he is worth every cent of his huge transfer fee.

The Super Eagles star joined the Neapolitans from French club Lille OSC for a fee which could rise to €80 million with add-ons, making him the most expensive African transfer to date.

Osimhen’s first season with Napoli was severely disrupted by injury and saw him score only 10 goals from 30 appearances across all competitions, but he is flying in the current campaign, having netted nine times in 11 games ahead of a Serie A clash with Bologna tonight (Thursday).

Branca believes the Nigerian has already shown, with his unique qualities, that Napoli were right to bet big on him.

“Osimhen is worth the money spent by Napoli because he has particular characteristics and more completeness than others,” Branca told Radio Kiss Kiss, as per Tutto Napoli.

“He still has ample room for improvement in front of goal, but for physical structure, participation and quality, I think he is one of the strongest there is.”

The 22-year-old Nigerian has been linked with some of Europe’s major heavyweights in recent transfer speculation, with the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain said to be keeping tabs on the attacker. (African Football)
