The Emmanuel Zira Revelations And The ‘Skeletons’ In NNBB Cupboard

By Daily Sports on October 18, 2021

I’ve oftentimes said, without any prejudice, that since 2015 when President Muhammadu Buhari and his co-travelers came to power that Nigeria has not only entered one chance vehicle but has also turned the nation where absurdity thrives. The country has become a jungle setting where lives and other unlawful acts take the centre stage unabated without official and definite stands.

I have not also hidden my disappointment on the nasty actions and inactions of this regime because of his rudely antecedents on human rights, equity, justice, fair play which he has displayed freely since he came on board.

It is no hidden fact that Buhari is a pretender of the worst order but uses non existing integrity he flaunts shamelessly anywhere he goes. Yet, corruption of great magnitude has continued unabated. Nothing happens to alleged corrupt individuals once they are in All Progressive Congress (APC); as Adams Oshiomhole told Nigerians, their sins are forgiven.

It is against that background that retrogression has become the order the day since 2015; impunity and lawlessness are now a way of life.

The way Nigeria presently is.

Killing of unspecified number of citizens is now a daily occurrence. Many other anomalies and absurdities are no crimes any longer in Buhari’s Nigeria today.

Buhari and his cohorts have oftentimes turned blind eyes on happenings in some parts of the country but calls on security agencies to deal brutally any harmless and mere threat from especially the South East where he has comprehensively collaborated with Governors Dave Umahi and Hope Uzodimma he planted in that once peaceful and harmonious region to destablise.

One wonders where Umahi and Uzodimma would be after May 2023 hand over as no level of manipulation by the latter and his APC oligarchy from Northern Nigeria would return him to Government House Owerri or install APC government in Ebonyi come 2023.

Dear readers you must have been following the trending shame and revelation Nigeria Basket Ball Federation where Musa Kida is leading a faction of that Basketball Federation.

The corruption that walks like human beings in NBBF under the nose of Sports Minister Sunday Dare is so palpable. I have written in this column when the disagreement started brewing in that national sports federation but both sides have their supporters and sports writers, right from the days of very low performed Sports Minister Solomon Dalung who performed woefully, encouraged abnormalities of every kind. He left every disagreement unsolved before he was dropped by Buhari.

He started the bad culture of taking sides with one faction after being “settled.” Unfortunately, Sunday Dare came and inherited such bad administration by Dalung which has left sports in tatters today.

We have witnessed more shocking scandals involving Dare and yet Buhari’s EFCC and ICPC are acting scripts written by their masters.

Sunday Dare became untouchable as he has sports writers that write for him what he wants to read and listen to in the media.

That is sadly what is left of sports writing and reporting in Nigeria today. I have not seen the kind of monumental corruption that is festering today but blind eyes and deaf ears are given to them. Solomon Dalung committed and raped sports in all ramifications and went away coolly with his huge loot and seriously angling to throw his hat into the ring of APC guber primaries in his home State Plateau State.

It is no hidden fact that Sunday Dare is amassing wealth that would increase his war chest for shot into the murky political water of Oyo State guber primaries of APC. All the obvious and wrong feet the Sports Minister has been putting forward that are in the public domain are never queried by security agents and the anti-corruption agencies that have voice and teeth only on the opposition party members which resulted to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors, Federal and State legislators and sundry jumping ship into APC for cover.

The sterling revelation by a certain Emmanuel Zira about the corruption and corrupt practices in NBBF which broke last week still makes my legs to wobble and eyes closing for the shame of Kida, Dare and all their gangs. Zira’s revelation tells the story of manipulations in Nigerian elections and corruption that festers.

If you read between the line and literarily his lips on his praise signing of Sunday Dare, it spoke volumes and to cap it all, it is a sad commentary on NBBF and the role of Solomon Dalung and presently Sunday Dare. By shutting himself on the foot so he did to his masters also. If it is a country where law and justice have thrives, those implicated would be summarily brought to book. But in Nigeria, this is a mirage. Period.

It vividly portrayed Emmanuel Zira as a stooge, a man without integrity and, overall, a very cheap and unreliable man. He further revealed how they were handpicked to return Musa Kida back to power, exactly the kind of dirty scenario that plays key role in the larger national, states and LGA elections in the country.

Very credible watchers of NBBF and sports will not take statement by Solomon Dalung serious because of his actions and inactions when he presided over Sports Ministry. Been interested only in what comes into his pocket, he has no moral right (although morals hold no water in Nigeria today) because of his blindness which drove sports into the deep volley.

I never took him serious when he was on that seat how much less now that he is a nobody. What he now does is to speak in order to draw some little attention and writing on him is also a waste of energy and sundry because he remains a non-performer. He came to sports and made lots of money for his guber ambition in Plateau State under APC.

One thought by now Emmanuel Zira and those he mentioned through any guise would be cooling their heels in EFCC or ICPC cells but as APC members, they are above the law.

Despite Sunday Dare’s hired writers, he still has a case to answer on the illegality in NBBF leadership. He sustained it and grew it enduringly too.

For the records, I am never a fan of any of those men that have struggled for the soul of NBBF. Both men divided sports writers and they write what suit them. I closed my eyes on anything basketball since the division started and now that truth is gradually being told, who will bell the cat? Many unprintable things against Nigeria happened on the road for struggle for the soul of NBBF. Both camps are culpable. Period. Clearly none has clean hands.

Nothing could happen or be heard further on Emmanuel Zira’s confession; the typical Nigeria way and way of doing or handling critical corruption issues. However, as a credible medium, we will not go to sleep but to ensure updates are brought in the front burner. All hopes are not loss. Keep shooting hard till next week as the struggle continues!
