Ikorodu United forward, Kabiru Balogun has said the newcomers will not go down on relegation at the end of the ongoing top-flight.
The Oga Boys are at the bottom on the league log at half hour mark on paltry 13 points.
Balogun said his side have not performed poorly in the first stanza as first timers but sure to be the team to beat in the second stanza of the season.
“Of course, no, Ikorodu United will not be relegated at the end of the ongoing league season.
“I can confidently assure you that we will finish the season comfortably among the top ten teams.
“Although the general impression of the public is that we will just return to the lower division at the end of the season given our not too impressive performance in the first stanza of the league.
“Well, we are not there yet but we do not consider ourselves failures as newcomers in the top-flight.
“We play good football but have been somehow unlucky to get equal results compared with our performance.
“Right now we are focusing on the second stanza of the league and we hope to achieve shocking results that will greatly shore up our fortune,” said the Ikorodu United petite marksman to supersport.com.
The Lagos outfit are expected to hit camp on Monday after a three-day break to resume training for the start of the second stanza.
