By Daily Sports on May 28, 2016

Nigeria’s Super Eagles started their two-game friendly campaign with a 1-0 win over Mali at the Stade Richon in Rouen on Friday.

Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench in place of Alex Iwobi to score his first international goal for the Super Eagles.

Interim coach Salisu Yusuf put out a makeshift squad with Musa Mohammed making his début at right back while Ogenyi Onazi stepped in a skipper for the day.

The game started on a slow note with both sides taking time to get into their strides.

Nigeria had a bevvy of chances in the first half through Musa Mohammed and Idion Ighalo but couldn’t make hay.

Manchester City starlet Kelechi Iheanacho replaced Alex Iwobi in the second half and scored with a cool finish.

Iheanacho nearly got his second in the 87th minute as Nigeria looked to finish off the game on a high.

The Super Eagles will now travel to Luxembourg for a date with the Luxembourg national side on May 31st.

Nigeria starting lineup: Carl Ikeme, Musa Muhammed, Kingsley Madu, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Ogenyi Onazi, Abdullahi Shehu, Oghenekaro Etebo, Moses Simon, Odion Ighalo, Alex Iwobi
