Enyimba overpower Nasarawa Utd., move into top half of NPFL table

By Daily Sports on May 22, 2016

Chima Akas scored early in the first half as champions, Enyimba, beat Nasarawa United 1-0 in a tightly-fought Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game played on Saturday.

The former Sharks FC defender fired home a free kick in the 31st minute as Enyimba closed out the win to move into the top half of the table.

Enyimba’s win came at a price though, as Mfon Udon hobbled off with what looks like a serious injury after he was scythed down by Nasarawa’s Manga Mohammed in the 52nd minute.

The injury will be a concern to Enyimba as the striker is the top scorer in this season’s CAF Champions League with the draw for the group stages of the competition due to hold on May 24.

Enyimba however overcame some nervy moments in the closing stages to close out the win over United at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

The Peoples Elephant have now moved up to eighth place on the NPFL standings with 27 points from 14 matches. © supersport.com
