Amokachi to Akpom: Besiktas Is A Great Opportunity

By Daily sports on July 25, 2021

Nigerian great Daniel Amokachi has advised Chuba Akpom that the chance to move to Turkish giants Besiktas is a “great opportunity”.

Akpom is the subject of a transfer bid from Besiktas, with the Istanbul-based club looking to sign the 25-year-old from English second-tier team Middlesbrough.

The former England youth international, who remains eligible to represent Nigeria at the senior level, endured a rocky time while on the books of PAOK in Greece from 2018 to 2020.

Thus he has sought the advice of Amokachi, who famously played for Besiktas from 1996 to 1999, to help make his decision about a possible move to the Black Eagles.

The Super Eagles legend reportedly told Akpom that he should jump at the opportunity to play for the current Turkish league winners – with the bonus of UEFA Champions League football thrown in as well.

“Don’t even think about this offer. It’s a great opportunity for you. You should definitely wear that jersey,” Amokachi advised Akpom, as per Sporx.

Akpom, a former Arsenal youth player, has also represented Brentford, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest, Brighton & Hove Albion and Sint-Truiden in his club career. Last season he scored five goals for Boro in 38 Championship appearances. (African Football)
