Pochettino to become Man. Utd Manager? Sir Alex Ferguson holds secret meeting with Tottenham boss

By Nelson Dafe on May 11, 2016

Pictures and reports have emerged of a secret meeting between legendary ex-Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson and Tottenham Manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The meeting has sparked rumours that the Tottenham coach who has just guided his side to an automatic ticket in next season’s Champions League would be named manager of Man Utd imminently.

The pair had lunch together at Scott’s restaurant in Mayfair, London, with Pochettino’s assistant, Jesus Perez, also in attendance.

Though Pochettino had said in April that he had agreed verbally on a five-year contract extension with Spurs that would keep him with the North London side till 2021, an offer from Manchester United, who are one of the world’s most-followed football clubs, would be hard to turn down.

There have been reports in the recent past that Ferguson is an admirer of Pochettino. According to goal.com, David Lammy, MP for Tottenham, told the Spurs Show podcast in February: “I’m going to let you into a secret. About six weeks ago, I sat next to Sir Alex Ferguson at a dinner in support of grassroots football abroad.

“He said to me, ‘I think you guys have got the best manager in the Premier League.’”
