Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah has indicated that helping Liverpool FC finish in the English Premier League top four is more important than winning the Golden Boot.
The 28-year-old winger, who is gunning for his third Premier League Golden Boot award, has netted 20 goals in the league – one behind the top scorer Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur with five matches left.
On the other hand, Liverpool are currently placed sixth on the standings – seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea FC as the battle to finish in the top four continues.
“Maybe!. I think the main target for the team and for me is to be in fourth place and to play in the Champions League,” Salah told the club’s official website.
“That’s the main target, that’s the most important thing. I’m proud to score goals for a club like Liverpool.”
Salah broke the Premier League scoring record for a 38-game season in the 2017/18 campaign and subsequently receiving the Premier League Golden Boot after netting 32 goals in 36 league games.
“The record in the Premier League is something huge for me and something that makes me proud,” the former AS Roman star continued.
I just need to keep working hard and just achieve more for the club and for myself, and also I can’t just say it’s about me.
“It’s also about the players; they also try to help all the time and give me the ball in front of the goal, so I want to thank them also for that achievement. They are a big part of it.”
Salah has been named the CAF African Footballer of the Year (2017 and 2018), BBC African Footballer of the Year (2017 and 2018). (African Football)
