Aubameyang Still Wants To Be At Arsenal says Arteta

By Daily sports on April 13, 2021

Club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is “totally” committed to Arsenal according to manager Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners forward has suffered a dip in form since signing a new three-year contract last year, sparking comparisons with the Mesut Ozil situation at the North London club. Ozil, who was on huge wages at Emirates Stadium, was eventually exiled by Arteta and shipped off to Fenerbahce.

Aubameyang, 31, has scored just nine goals in 25 Premier League appearances this season and wasn’t in the team that beat Sheffield United 3-0 on Sunday.

“I’m always positive about the future but once you think about things that happen in the past or compare different situations and personalities, I won’t do that,” Arteta said.

Asked whether Aubameyang was committed to the Gunners’ cause, Arteta added: “Totally.”

Arsenal currently occupy ninth spot on the Premier League standings and look set to miss out on European football next season, barring they win the Europa League.

Aubameyang assisted Nicolas Pepe for Arsenal’s goal in a 1-1 draw against Slavia Prague in the first-leg quarter-final match last Thursday, but the Gabon international will be hoping for an improved showing in Czech Republic later this week. (African Football)
