State of the Nation, National Sports Festival, Onuachu’s Current Form

By Daily sports on April 12, 2021

In all facets, Nigeria has sadly drifted herself into a level of sorry state. Nothing encourages one of being called a Nigerian rather the country has become the most unsafe like the most then dreaded war fronts like Lebanon and other Arab frontline countries that blood bath became synonymous with.

As it is presently, Nigeria is out hand and nobody is taking responsibility of all these killings, kidnapping and other banditry that have hugely enveloped the country since Buhari and APC fraudulently came into the scene of governance in Nigeria.

Upon all these anomalies’ that have become the lot of the helpless citizenry, no concrete assurance is coming from supposedly right quarters.

For instance, Buhari is in London Hospital, Osinbajo who ought to be in charge of governance like the previous ones is like an outsider, his hands are tied by Buhari’s men which left him like a lameduck.

This government that came in with lots of deceits announced back on its face. Buhari/APC has no shame and so are doing nothing to nip this terrible situation on bud.

It is no longer hidden fact that Nigeria and all her institutions have finally drifted into a failed State.

Politically, economically, socially and sundry Nigeria scored zero.

Sports that have always been handy to cushion helpless situations as present in Nigeria is on its downwards lane also occasioned by the maladministration of Buhari/APC gangsters’ confusion.

Not many fans knew that the 20th edition of the National Sports Festival is ongoing in Edo State due to the way Buhari/APC government is going about it.

The government whose supposedly head is in exile leaving the day to day governance of the country at the hand of Garba Shehu and his other cabals yet all is with in Nigeria and shamefully too the National Caretaker Committee of the APC had the guts to pass vote of confidence on Buhari that is far away in London Hospital receiving treatment.

You can see the height of deceitfulness typical hallmark of congregation of mindless and heartless vultures in human cloth.

Edo National Sports Festival is striving to clinch and march on despite obvious shortcoming caused by the Federal Government.

The as usual very patriotic Nigerian athletes are setting the tracks, field events and sundry on fire. They are the reason and as passionate they are it is the choice they have chosen to earn their living on.

The columnist thumbs up their (athletes) resilient spirits in competing gamely and such has helped in no smaller measure in keeping the torch of the Festival continually burning brightly for all to see definitely not for the sake of the failed Buhari/APC government but for the pure love of sports a singular aspect that has kept the hope of Nigerians on. I salute their (athletes) forbearance in the face of heavy tension in the country presently.

Before one draws the curtain this week, it will not be out of place to warn or bring to notice of the public that the next edition of Africa Cup of Nations coming up in Cameroun would remain a watershed for the Super Eagles because the team does not lack quality players that would give the nation her fourth shot at the apex African continent diadem.

The undoing of the Eagles would be wrong selection and the age old sharp practices that has been the lot of the them even under the ‘watch’ of Franco-German technical hand, Gernot Rohr where first player like Paul Onuachu has been left out for flimsy reasons until the appointed time of God. Few of us have written on the potency of the gangling player and Rohr has always centered such with his usual nonsense and senseless submission of how he plays and other quasi and demi excuses topical of a failed country Buhari/APC have been presiding yet pretending all is well in the country.

Paul Onuachu is a player’s player. He is scoring goals in his club with all ease. There will be nothing that will be advanced against this productive play of note as AFCON hostilities draws. He makes use of his frame and intimidates opponents and such was the role late Rasheed Yekini played in the national team during his days.

Onuachu must not be swept under the carpet any longer. He has proved his qualities in Eagles line up.

For the records, I have not met Paul Onuachu before but might do in future. My sole interest is that the Eagles handlers must uphold form and potency foremost.

Nigeria must invite and field her best players at the forthcoming edition of AFCON in Cameroun.

We must tell Rohr and his cohorts in more clear terms that the time is now to grab our forth AFCON win. As we keep watch on the Super Eagles and the politics that would play out, eyes would be on the ball.

We are ready and open to discuss all that are raised in this page via our social media handles. Keep shooting hard till next week as the Struggle Continues!!
