Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez has been announced as the winner of the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for March 2021.

The experienced winger beat Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho to the individual accolade.

The PFA stands for Professional Footballers’ Association which is the trade union for professional association footballers in England and Wales.

It is the world’s oldest professional sport trade union, it has 4,000 members.

Mahrez was in top form in the month of March as bagged three goals in four league games for his club, Manchester City.

The left-footed attacker also grabbed a brace against Southampton as City secured a 5-2 win in an English Premier League match on March 10.

“Congratulations to Riyad Mahrez. Winner of the PFA BristolStMotors Premier League Player of the Month for March,” a statement read.

Iheanacho, who is a former Manchester City player, was also in good form in the month of March as scored five goals in three Premier League matches.

The Nigeria international was then named the Premier League Player of the Month for March 2021 as a reward for his impressive displays for Leicester. (African Football)
