Ondo Deputy Governor Heads Committee To Run Sunshine Stars, Sunshine Queens

By Segun Giwa on March 31, 2021

The Ondo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been appointed by Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to head the committee which would take over the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA).

Richard Olatunde, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), in a statement on Tuesday in Akure disclosed that the committee has two other members.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the agency oversees Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Sunshine Stars and Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) side Sunshine Queens.

Olatunde listed the other committee members as the Commissioner for Finance, Wale Akinterinwa, and the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Charles Titiloye.

He also disclosed that the former board and management of the state football agency stood dissolved.

“For optimum performance and result-oriented actions in ODSFA, Gov. Akeredolu has set up a three-member management committee to take over its affairs.

“This will be in place for 60 days from March 30, 2021.

“During this period, it must find a suitable investor to take over the Sunshine Stars Football Club on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement,” the CPS said.

Sunshine Stars are currently 17th in the NPFL and will take on Akwa United at home in Akure on Sunday. (NAN)
