BREAKING: Atletico Madrid vanquish Bayern Munich to land in European Champions League final

By Daily Sports on May 3, 2016

Pep Guardiola will never win the European Champions League with German giants Bayern Munich. His last chance to do so before switching base to Manchester City of England was wasted minutes ago when his side lost out on away goal rule to visiting Atletico Madrid in the second leg semi-final at the Allianz Arena.

Atletico went into the match with a lone goal advantage from the first leg last week in Spain but lost it on 31 minutes when a free-kick by Xabi Alonso from close to the vital area was deflected into the net.

Atletico, however scored a very significant away goal in the 54th minute when out of nothing, Antoine Griezmann knocked the ball back to Fernando Torres, who played it through and Griezmann sprinted past his markers to slot into the net.

Robert Lewandowski headed in Bayern’s second in the 75th minute but it was Diego Simeone’s men who sailed through when the match ended two-all.

They will meet either Manchester City or Real Madrid in the final – with their opponents to be known after tomorrow night’s game.
