Messiah FC recorded a resounding 3-0 victory over Metropolitan FC in the 2021 NLO season.
It should be recalled that the Dosu David led side lost their first match against YOBO FC 1-0.
Ifeanyi Opara opened the scoring against the run of play after a goalmouth scramble.
Adebowale Adegoke added the second goal following a good work from Sholola Seweffu to give Messiah FC a commanding 2-0 lead at the end of first half.
Messiah FC started the second half with a renewed vigour to kill off the game but they failed to convert their numerous chances.
Adigun Ibrahim came off the bench to score from the spot after a Metropolitan FC player handled in the box, the diminutive midfielder sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to increase Messiah FC lead.
Messiah FC goalkeeper, Sadiq Raji produced a last-minute world class save to deny Metropolitan FC a consolation goal.
The match ended 3-0 in favour of Messiah FC, they will be hoping to build on the impressive win when they take on Jossy FC on Saturday.
Messiah FC Coach, Dosu David had a mixed feeling at the end of the game.
“I am not happy because we could have scored up to seven goals today but at the same time I am glad we were able to bounce back from the loss against YOBO FC.
“We will work on our finishing and we will be going all out for a victory against Jossy FC on Saturday,” he said.
Meanwhile, Remo Stars Football Academy climbed to the top of the log at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin centre, after a 3-0 win over EKSU Galacticos to maintain its unbeaten start to the 2020/2021 NLO playoff in Ilorin.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match played at Kwara Stadium Complex on Thursday saw the Sky Blues Stars which now have nine points from three games ahead with just 34 minutes on the clock.
Shola Ogundana assisted Ganiyu Adio to put the Kwara Stadium Complex centre leaders in the driving seat for the first goal.
Ogundana continued his impressive start to the campaign when he doubled Remo Stars’ lead two minutes into restart.
In the 57th minute, Isaac Ajibolade sealed the victory for Remo Stars when he chested a perfect cross before picking his angle and slotted home his team’s third goal of the match.
FC Ebedei first victory of the playoff came on Thursday when the Oliseh Boys defeated K.J United FC of Kaduna 1-0.
Peter Michael’s goal in the 32nd minute of play was what gave the Oliseh Boys their first three points at the playoff.
Michael got the Oliseh Boys ahead with a superb nodding off Gabriel Victor’s cross.
Knight Football Club of Ilé Ife forced Hammola International FC to a 1-1 draw in an encounter that glued the bench of both teams to their seat.
Kabiru Alabi put Hammola ahead in the 22nd minute while Tosin Dabiri level the scores for Knight FC in the 66th minute of play at the Kwara Football Academy pitch centre.
In the KFA pitch centre, Olukismet FC will lock horns with Seat Of God of Kaduna beginning from 4:00p.m while Vet Rovers FC will take on ABU FC at 7:00a.m at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin centre.
Ottasolo FC which is second on the log of the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin centre will battle another Kaduna based side, K.J United at 9 a.m.
