Nigeria’s President Muhhamadu Buhari has congratulated Mr. Anthony Femi Joshua, Nigerian-born British citizen who recently won the IBF World Heavy-weight Champion.
This he did in a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora and Foreign Relations, Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
He said that that Femi’s wins reflected his hard work, tireless dedication and a brave heart which he had displayed.
The statement further revealed that “The British professional boxer, was born to a Nigerian mother and father, spent his early years in Nigeria before returning to the UK.
“He is now the current IBF heavyweight champion who also holds the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles.
“Joshua is ranked the world’s sixth best heavyweight boxer by The Ring magazine and the second boxer in history to win a professional world heavyweight title doubling as the Olympic champion at the top weight.
“Femi, however, will be defending his title by June 25th, 2016.” In a related development, Dabiri Erewa has also described the approval of the 300 million Diaspora Bond passed by the National Assembly unanimously as a good development.
The presidential assistant however, encouraged all Nigerian patriots in the Diaspora to take advantage of the Diaspora Bond
