Busquets Out For Around Two Weeks

By Daily sports on November 19, 2020

Barcelona have confirmed that Sergio Busquets has suffered a sprain to the external lateral ligament of his left knee and is expected to be out of action for at least two weeks.

The club’s medical department confirmed the injury, although they did not state how long they believe he will be absent for. The information that Busquets could be unavailable for selection for the next fortnight comes from sources close to the player.

What is certain for now is that Busquets will miss the LaLiga Santander clash on Saturday against Atletico Madrid, and his absence forces Ronald Koeman to rethink his starting eleven.

In addition, Barcelona’s long journey to Ukraine to face Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League will also come too soon for the midfielder, and the league fixture against Osasuna on November 29 is a more realistic target for his return. Busquets suffered the injury playing for Spain against Switzerland, and had to be subbed off during the encounter.

Koeman is now awaiting the return of his international players ahead of Saturday's big game against Atletico. Wednesday's training session included: Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Gerard Pique, Carles Alena, Ousmane Dembele, Riqui Puig, Neto, Philippe Coutinho, Jordi Alba, Matheus Fernandes, Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo, as well as Arnau Tenas, Mingueza and Ramos Mingo from the academy.
