A chairmanship candidate into Anambra State Football Association (AnSFA) board, Chikelue Iloenyosi, has contested the eligibility of his sole opponent, Dr Emeka Okeke, in the election.
Speaking during his appearance before the AnSFA 2020 Elections Appeals Committee in Awka, Iloenyosi cited Okeke’s position as former chairman of the Caretaker Committee as one point to buttress his petition.
Daily Sports reports that Okeke was picked among others by NFF to head a committee to work on modalities for the AnSFA election which experienced a pitfall as a result of some irregularities in the process.
Though the committee was given a three month mandate, the former chairman resigned barely one month into the process to run for the chairmanship position of Anambra FA.
According to Iloenyosi, Okeke was an NFF-approved football intermediary and also chairman of a football club in Anambra.
He added: “The mandate did not include that he should not resign and contest.
“I have tendered various documentary evidences to back up my claim and I am confident that the Appeals Committee will consider their merits and act in line with the spirit of NFF statutes on the issues raised.”
Okeke, who also appeared before the committee, refused to speak on his interaction with the members.
He however urged all those involved in Nigerian football to help uplift the well-being of youths in the country.
Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Chijioke Onyedika, who spoke on behalf of the Appeals Committee, said the committee would not speak on the process, saying that the outcome of the appeal would be made public in due course.
