Plateau United head coach, Zachary Baraje has said his side ably deserved their hard fought win in the Jos derby against Giwa FC.
The newly promoted side defeated the Jos Elephants 2-0 in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 11 clash at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.
Goals from the duo Benjamin Turba and Sunday Ingbede proved adequate to hand the newcomers the whole three points at stake.
Baraje said Giwa FC lost the Jos derby clash due to momentary loss of concentration as well as indiscipline.
“It was not an easy battle as both sides came into the match well prepared to outwit the other for the three points at stake.
“However, along the line Giwa FC lost concentration as well as careless in the defence as a result of indiscipline which we cashed in on to secure our goals.
“It was quite a good victory for us and I think we were the better side on matchday and ably deserved to win.
“It was truly a derby clash and it lived up to the pre-match expectations we still believe the reverse fixture at Giwa FC will be no less explosive.
“Though we are victors today (Sunday) we are not going to sit on the victory as there are still flaws and the team must be reinforced to compete favourably.
“I’m already looking forward to the next game at neighbours, Nasarawa United, it’s a derby of a sort even with the Lafia side loss at Kano Pillars in matchday 11 tie will make the clash tougher.
“I have lost some points and we must work speedily to recover the points to be in good standing on the league log,” said the former Akwa United and Enyimba coach to supersport.com.
The victory against city rivals, Giwa FC takes Plateau United total earning to 14 from possible 33 points in the 11-week old top flight. (Supersports.com)
