Barcelona’s senior squad has rejected the demand of pay cuts from the board.
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu had requested a 30 percent drop in salary for his players and the club’s employees, opening a negotiating window which was to run until October 22.
There was also the possibility of an additional period of time to November 5 to agree on an alternate reduction amount, but the players have said they won’t accept it.
The individuals themselves have asked for their negotiations be separate from that of the club's other staff members on the basis that their situations are different.
Barcelona remain hopeful of reaching an agreement on the matter, but if that can't be done then they won’t hesitate to introduce pay-cutting measures unilaterally. (AFP)
