The President and Sole Sponsor of Go-Round Football Club of Omoku, Bro. Felix Obuah, has congratulated the players and officials of his pet club for winning the 2016 Rivers Federation Cup.
Obuah, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam on Wednesday, described the victory against highly rated Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt as historic and a well fought battle, adding that the victory had broken an age-long footballing jinx in Rivers State.
The Go-Round FC owner said he was highly elated at the confidence exhibited by his boys who held Rivers United to 1-1 till the end of regulation time, moving on to defeat the Premiership side 4-2 on penalties.
He commended the winners for showing brevity and refusing to be intimidated by the profile of Rivers United who at the moment are top contenders of the Nigerian Premier League shield.
Bro. Obuah, who is also the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, expressed the hope that the Federation Cup feat would spur Go-Round FC to an impressive season that would launch them for promotion to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
He further urged the boys not to rest on their oars but to intensify preparations to represent the state and win the national Federation Cup.
The President, and Sole Sponsor of the victorious Go-Round FC said his appreciation also goes to the Governor of Rivers State, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, whom he said had created an enabling environment for sports to thrive in the state. He dedicated the victory of the boys to Gov Wike, further describing him as Performing Governor.
Bro. Obuah assured officials and players of Go-Round that he would continue to support the club within the limits of available resources and urged them to sustain the winning tempo.
