Amuneke turns Focus to U-20

By Daily Sports on April 7, 2016

Nigeria Under-20 coach Emmanuel Amuneke has called up 30 players to camp ahead of the Caf Under-20 Nations Cup qualifiers with Burundi.

After the disappointing of failing to play a role in helping Nigeria to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations as one of the backroom staff in a temporary setup of the Super Eagles, Amuneke is now taking time to build an Under-20 side for the tie against Burundi.

The Flying Eagles will travel to Bujumbura to play the Burundi Under-20 side between May 20 and 22 this year.

Burundi qualified to play Nigeria after their opponents Democratic Republic of Congo withdrew from the qualifying rounds.

Ahead of the resumption, Amuneke has also set out a three-day open screening for potential under-20 players between April 7 and 9.

Successful players will join the 30 invited players to fight for shirts ahead of the game with Burundi.

The 30-man squad consists mainly of the players who won the Fifa Under-17 World Cup in Chile last year.

Goalkeeper Akpan Udoh leads a list that includes right-back John Lazarus, Funsho Bambgboye, Joel Osikel and David Enogela.
