Tournament Co-ordinator, Mr Onome James, has reassured invited teams that despite the likely change in the kick-off date due to the non-lifting of restrictions on contact sports as clarified by the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, Ughelli is ready to host the best edition of the tournament. He gave this reassurance in an exclusive interview in Ughelli.

“Let me begin by thanking the management of all the teams who have confirmed their participation in the tournament. As we speak, we are still receiving interest from more teams.

“We are working round the clock to ensure everything is in place to ensure a smooth run all through the tournament. We look forward to hosting the best edition of this preseason cup.

“We are monitoring very closely the situation and we will communicate to all the teams when we get clearance to kick start the tournament. We have to be alive to play football,” Onome stated.

The 10th edition of the Ughelli preseason football tournament is billed to kick-off on September 28, 2020 but this date is now subject to the lifting of restrictions on contact sports in Nigeria.
