Gattuso: Red-hot Osimhen Shouldn’t Be Satisfied

By Daily sports on September 8, 2020

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has been urged to maintain his impressive goalscoring form.

The 21-year-old forward has netted six goals in his first two matches for his new Italian club SSC Napoli.

Osimhen scored a hat-trick for Napoli in their 4-0 win over Serie C club Teramo in a pre-season friendly match on Friday.

Prior to that, he netted a hat-trick on his first appearance in a Napoli shirt as they recorded an 11-0 friendly win over Serie D club L’Aquila last month.

Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso praised Osimben, who recently joined the team from French side Lille OSC for a club-record fee of €70 million potentially rising to €80 million with add-ons.

“Osimhen is a quiet guy who has to work a lot. He has a lot of physicalities, but he doesn’t have to be satisfied,” Gattuso said on Goal.

“The goals he scores right now don’t count for anything, but he fits in very well with the team. He jokes with everyone and makes himself loved.”

Napoli are scheduled to take on Serie B club Pescara in another pre-season friendly match on Friday.

Gattuso’s side will then start their 2020/21 Serie A campaign against Parma on Sunday, September 20. (African Football)
