Celtic Set Sights On Liverpool’s Awoniyi

By Daily sports on August 30, 2020

Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are reportedly eyeing a move for Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

According to the Daily Star, the Hoops have identified the Nigerian as a possible replacement for Odsonne Edouard at Celtic Park.

Edouard has been heavily linked with a move to the English Premier with no fewer than six clubs said to be battling for his services.

Awoniyi joined Liverpool in 2015 but has spent the last five years out on-loan and is yet to make a first team appearance for the Reds.

The 23-year-old was contracted to FSV Mainz 05 for the 2019/20 season and scored just one goal in 12 matches for the German club.

Awoniyi will reportedly cost around £9 million. The forward has represented Nigeria at youth level but is yet to make his Super Eagles debut. (African Football)
