Rangers, Heartland vow to lift States’ Federation Cup titles (PLUS: state-by-state fixtures)

By Daily Sports on April 3, 2016

Enugu Rangers and Heartland FC have both vowed to use the opportunity presented by their States Federation Cup finals slated for Sunday to claim their first silverware of the season and ensure that they are in touch with their season’s targets to win laurels in the league and in the Federation Cup.

Rangers beat Nsukka United FC 2-0 in the semi-final and they will face Disdevet FC who dislodged Inter FC in the other last four encounter played  to herald the grand finale of the 2016 Enugu Federation Cup final.

The media officer of the Flying Antelopes. Foster Chime told Goal that Rangers are ready to face the little known Disdevet and that they will show their opponents no mercy at all in their quest to lift the state federation cup again this year stating that a victory in Sunday’s final will set the tone for a very fruitful season.

He said they would like to sustain the spirit with which they have started the season with a win in the final of the state Federation Cup and thereafter proceed to Lagos on Monday from where they will face MFM FC on Wednesday in a potential top of the table clash at the Agege Township Stadium.

Chime told Goal: “It was not a stroll in the park at all for us in the state Federation Cup. We had to play with all we had before qualifying for the final where we have another tough game against Disdevet FC. We won’t joke with them at all because we know they can cause havoc.

“It is an opportunity for us to start the season brightly if we win the Federation Cup and we are going to give it our best shot. We want to go to Lagos with high spirits ahead of our Wednesday tie with MFM in the NPFL.”

In a related development, the head coach of Heartland FC, Alphonsus Dike has also reiterated his desire to ensure that his boys continue with their bonding ahead of their next NPFL Week 10 tie against Nasarawa United FC in Lafia on Wednesday with a win against Papillo FC in the final of the 2016 Imo Federation Cup.

He told Goal that he has ordered his players to get as many goals as possible and not be complacent against the non-league side if they do not want to be shocked on Sunday in Owerri.
