There is no gainsaying the fact that this is no normal time in Nigeria and we don’t need any soothsayer to tell us that, but unfortunately this regime’s information managers are worsening the already ugly scenario.
As these nonsense go on, two things I would term major, cropped up which I consider very significant as touching the near helpless and hopeless teeming youths of this country.
One was the UEFA Champions League between Bayern Munich and Barcelona in neutral ground far away Lisbon, Portugal where the Germans made mincemeat of the multiple UEFA Champs.
Though yours in Sports is not fan to any of the foreign club sides but I follow them like religion in their trends because of my beat that requires me to be updated in all subject matter. It therefore meant that you cannot pin me down to any of the teams as ardent fan. However, I love good and great football displays, spectacular football artistry and goals scoring through cohesive build up that move fans.
Many fans of the German based team have been celebrating to high heavens while Barcelona fans still wonder what hit their team and themselves like thunderbolt. In all, it is a game which the golden rule has been you winning some and losing some while the game or hostilities continue another time.
That is why sports have been different from the rest. No enemy(ies) but opponent (s) has been the thickness that binds the game which has saved situations especially in countries which Nigeria is no exception.
Nigerian Barcelona fans and Munich fans must relax and be themselves. As the celebration goes on, both teams have history and it is worthy to acknowledge strengths of the pair that confronted themselves for the space the German side claimed to advance.
Here in the local scene and at the ancient City of Ibadan, Oyo State that has been making history for good and great reason, the young Governor Seyi Makinde, commissioned the remodeling of Lekan Salami Stadium which would bring the arena to international standard and enable it also to host international sports of all shades and magnitude after completion.
I watched the ceremony where the governor out of his busy schedules personally graced the ceremony which further showed the significance he attached to the would be Lekan Salami reborn.
Let say this from the beginning that Governor Seyi Makinde is a very active and agile young man who does not pretend in doing or carrying out his peoples’ mandate. Again, I have met him thrice before he became the governor and he instantly won my heart via his comportment despite his achievements. He is cerebral also and above all never carries airs around himself despite his handsome looks. This article emanated from this premise and the commitment with which he has carried the affairs of the State that made his people; reward him as their governor in 2019. He has been around and goes or drives Oyo State round and you cannot but agree that the State is working.
The gigantic project of remodeling of Salami Stadium in time like this spoke volumes of his direction and big heart for the State and one urges that all hands should be on deck with him to continue to shape and redefine the affairs of the State. I know that he is hell bent on bringing back 3SC football club to the Premiership. I know he would and he is one that believes in working more and talking less. The icing of it all would be his will for the 3SC FC aka Oluyole Warriors to play in the NPFL which it narrowly missed.
To be honest with you, the young Governor has acumen and foresight par excellence as he drives or steers the ship of the great OIuyoles to safety anchor. It further gladdens one’s heart that Governor Makinde has shown grit in governance and has also been touching the hearts of his people. This remodeling of Salami stadium is in his ultimate job creation for the youths and what else will the Oyo State youths bargain for, after having not only a listening governor but also, the one working round the clock, who knows where the shoe of his people pinches. Kudos Seyi and the people like the literary Oliver Twist would keep on asking for more and no doubt you are equal to the task!
After the Lekan Salami Stadium remodeling, Oyo State youths and athletes would not be the same again as sky would be their beginning in sporting zenith. The governor has thought the right way and history would not judge him harshly because he has kept faith with his people and one hopes that this kind of performance would continue touching every community and local governments that made up the State.
As we keep the dial on Governor Makinde and the remodeling of Lekan Salami Stadium which is very key to us here, we wish him the best and would continue to beam our searchlight on the project until its completion, which would be for the honour of the youths, athletes and sundry. Our social media handles are on 247. Keep shooting hard till next week!!
