Goretzka: Stopping Messi? You Can’t Man-Mark Him

By Daily sports on August 13, 2020

Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has been considering how he takes on Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

This week's Champions League quarterfinal will be the first time Goretzka has faced Messi.

He said, "The only formula that works is to do it collectively. We all know the quality that Messi has, he is capable of finding solutions even in the most difficult situations.

"We will have to fight back as a team. I don't know if a specific player can be on top of him the whole game, but what we have to do is play as a team and try to make our game."

Goretzka admits he could've joined Bayern ahead of Barca earlier in his career.

He added: “It took me a long time to decide. I had several options on the table. I listened to everyone and opted for Bayern, and I have never regretted making that decision." (Tribal football)
