Liverpool Keen On Signing Algerian Defender

By Dailysports on August 2, 2020

English Premier League champions Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Aïssa Mandi.

According to Cope, the Reds have made an official offer for the Real Betis defender.

Mandi joined the LaLiga club from Reims four years ago and only has a year left on his current contract.

The 28-year-old featured prominently for Betis throughout what was a largely disappointing campaign for the club. In total, he made 29 league appearances as Betis finished the 2019/20 season in 15th place and with one of the worst defences in the division, having conceded 60 goals in 38 matches.

The Reds are set to bolster their defence before the start of the new season following the sale of Dejan Lovren to Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Mandi played a crucial part in Algeria’s run to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations title, starting in all but one of the Desert Foxes’ games at the tournament. (African Football)
