Ivorian Star Gbamin Suffers Achilles Injury

By Daily Sports on May 30, 2020

Ivory Coast international Jean-Philippe Gbamin has suffered an Achilles injury in training.

This is according to his English club Everton FC, who also revealed that the midfielder will undergo surgery next week.

Gbamin has struggled with injuries since he joined the Premier League side from German club Mainz 05 last year August.

The lanky midfielder sustained a thigh injury in the same month and he has since made only two appearances for Everton.

A club statement read: “Jean-Philippe Gbamin is set to undergo surgery next week after suffering a serious Achilles injury in training.”

“It is expected the midfielder, 24, will then require an extensive period of rehabilitation.”

“The injury, sustained in a non-contact situation at USM Finch Farm, is unrelated to the quadriceps problem Gbamin had been working his way back from since August last year.”

“Everyone at the Club is devastated for JP and we will ensure he gets all the support he needs throughout this challenging time.”

The 24-year-old is expected to be out injured until November 2020. (African Football)
