COVID-19’s Deadly Blow On Sports, Others: Call For Quick Solution

By Daily Sports on April 6, 2020

Heads or tails, it is not a normal time in the World as a result of the COVID–19   pandemic ravaging the entire globe which is almost overwhelming even to the medically advanced countries.

To be honest with you, it is no joke in every sense of the word. It has brought many aspects of life to its knees and life has become so unbearable. It is one dreaded pandemic that frightens everybody around the world.

It is no mean disease as many activities have been totally shut down and sporting activities are no exception. Nothing is moving. For instance, sporting tournaments have been cancelled and it has affected all stakeholders and sundry.

Sports men and women have been lamenting loud and clear and there is nothing anybody can do beyond what is already being done to curtail the pandemic, to safeguard human lives which have been drastically affected by this scourge.

Sports, which has served as a stimulating factor to keep the peace of the world to great extent and has given employment to millions no doubt, is counting it’s loses to the fullest.

Many families earn their living through professional sports of any kind and it has been on the rise as many talented persons have taken to the game. Consequently, sports have thrown up many millionaires’ even as Portugal international and Juventus player Christiano Ronaldo had been adjudged first football billionaire.

That is how sports to which family football belongs, has shaped the world by providing greater future for athletes of all kinds. To say the very least, the present situation has dealt heavy blow on human kind and there seems no end in sight.

Mankind is facing an uphill task presently and all efforts are geared towards curtailing the steady surge. Nigeria as one, in the comity of nations is not finding it easy at all with her upside way of doing things. Already, if you are not a member of a certain political party or from certain political party or from certain part of the country, you are not entitled to the so called Federal government palliatives. A country of irregularities, tribal favouritism, man’s inhumanity to man, yet Federal government and those clapping for her are busy boasting that it is catering for the citizenry.

It was even reported without denial as at the time of putting this page to bed, that South East, a supposedly part and parcel of the disjointed Nigerian Federation is not part of the Federal palliatives. It was a woman that Buhari and his cabal instructed to spill the beans.

But the Nigerian nation has pretended not to notice that these South Easterners have moved on, sounding it clearly that the people have not lived on any so called Federal government patronage and so never expected any even in times like this as the good Lord has oftentimes acted as our Shepherd.

The region is not and will never be improvised as rightly and widely quoted from the careless and uncivilised statement from the Minister of Infrastructures and Poverty Alleviation that Ndigbo do not need the palliatives because their children out there supplies them their want.

That is what is readily in the wobbling mind of average Nigerian, especially the ever lazy Northerners, who has been ruling the country without any tangible provision for her people that are daily ravaged by extreme poverty.

Truth is that, in Nigerian sporting arena, that Ndigbo are so marginalised holds sway. Yet the people in all aspects of sports are hauling medals for the country, in international meets and there is no holding back. Lair Mohammed and his cohorts in Garba Shehu and Femi Adesina have pretended not to have heard that silly statement credited to that quota system Minister.

Nobody will stop what God has ordained. Ndigbo will continue to excel in all they venture into. Name them. The other day somebody asked why Ndigbo have not made donations towards the COVID-19 purse without going through the list, and Ndigbo have shut them up as usual. We will continue to play the fool in the Nigerian polity but time and time alone heals. Keep sporting. Imbibe the spirit and never mind the arch tribal man leading Nigeria as if it belonged to only him and his cronies. Let’s discuss as usual on how COVID-19 has stopped sporting activities worldwide. Pray for quick recovery of the planet earth from this arch enemy. Our social media handles are open 247. Keep shooting hard till next week!!
