Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out a summer overhaul of his squad as he looks to resurrect his side’s form after three consecutive defeats in all competitions.
Mourinho, who replaced Mauricio Pochettino as boss in November, has had to make do with an injury-hit squad since arriving at the club, with long-term injuries to stars Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min leaving him short in attacking options heading in the final stages of the season.
But Mourinho has avoided talk of spending spree at the north London club this summer and has said that the ever-increasing price of players makes an overhaul infeasible.
“No, not massive changes” Mourinho said in a news conference on Tuesday. “First of all, that’s not what we think we need.
“Second because of the profile of our club and third because of what the market is. Year after year, it’s more difficult. I’m not thinking of an overhaul.”
In January, Mourinho made Steven Bergwijn and Giovani Lo Celso his first signings as Spurs boss.
Spurs sit in seventh in the Premier League, five points off of the Champions League places, but their push European qualification has taken a hit in recent weeks following back-to-back league defeats to Chelsea and Wolves. (ESPN)
