An alumnus of the Nigeria Police Training School Ikeja, Lagos, and the award-winning 2018 Police Supernumerary Course, Mr. Osita Reuben Agina (Oyinatumba), has showered encomiums on Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, for attracting and hosting the 12th Biennial Games of the Nigeria Police in the state.

Oyinatumba described the choice of Anambra State as he first state to host the Nigeria police games in south East as “a clear indication that the investment of the Executive Governor in the area of security network is bearing fruits.”

He lauded the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, for the choice of Anambra State which prides itself as the most secured state in Nigeria “for the historic event which has as its theme, ‘Promoting Community Policing through Sports’.”

Oyinatumba in a statement on Saturday expressed optimism that the Police Games will help produce people like “police personnel whose names are now etched in gold in the pantheon of sporting greats in the country and beyond. The likes of ACP Chioma Ajunwa, MON – Nigeria’s 1st Individual Olympic Gold Medalist, DSP Samuel Peter – former WBC Heavyweight champion, among others.”

Daily Sports reports that the 12th Police Games will witness over 3,000 male and female Police athletes drawn from the 12 Zonal Commands and the Force Headquarters. The games feature competitions in 31 indoor and outdoor sporting games which include Athletics, Football, Basketball, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Judo, Taekwondo, Weightlifting, Golf, Chess, Squash, Shooting, Karate, Swimming, Hockey, Badminton, and Handball, amongst other sporting events
