Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos this evening suffered their first Nigeria Professional Football League defeat in the hands of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan at the Adamasingba Stadium courtesy of a hat-trick by Jimoh Wasiu.
Having won their first two NPFL matches, MFM failed to replicate their last away form that saw them defeating CAF Confederation Cup campaigners, Nasarawa United 2-1 in Makurdi.
Wasiu Jimoh got the first goal for Shooting Stars in the 4th minute of the encounter after a howler by MFM goalkeeper, James Aiyeyemi.
Jimoh doubled the lead for 3SC with on the stroke of 19 minutes.
MFM put themselves together shortly after the second goal, they dictated the pace of the game, their dominance was short lived as the former Under 20 attacking midfielder, Jimoh scored the third goal of the game in the 36 minutes of play.
The visitors came out strong in the second half, got a couple of goal scoring opportunities with Sikiru Olatunbosun, Newman Musa tormenting the homers defence.
MFM head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu made couple of changes in the second half, Isah Akor came in for Stephen Odey in the 52nd minute, Emmanuel Onuwa was substituted for Henry Abara 10 minutes after the first substitution, Shola Brossa also came into the game in 76th minute to replace Oshobe Oladele to stabilise the midfield.
MFM gave good account of themselves in the second half but all their effort to record a goal was twarted by Shooting Stars players who stood their ground till the end of 90 minutes as they claimed their first win of the season.
Despite the fact the game was live on Supersport 9, the fans still came out in their thousands and they were thrilled with good football from both teams.
The match officials did a yeoman’s job, the centre referee, Marwan Bala controlled the game, his officiating was quite commendable, he was assisted by Nura Abdullahi, Aliyu Madugu and Akintunde Akinsanya.
