Desabre Set For Ivory Coast Job

By Daily Sports on February 27, 2020

Sebastien Desabre is being linked with the vacant Ivory Coast head coaching position.

As reported by Ahram Online, he is geared to take over the reins as head coach of the Elephants days after the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) and Ibrahim Kamara mutually agreed to part ways.

Desabre was dismissed as Wydad Casablanca head coach after a month in charge, and was swiftly replaced by Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido this week.

The 43-year-old has been a journeyman of sorts over the last 10 years and if he were to take over the Elephants post, it would be his fourth coaching job in the last 12 months.

Desabre coached Uganda at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, before a short stint at Egypt’s big-spending Pyramids FC was followed by an even shorter stint in Morocco.

The new Ivory Coast head coach’s first assignment will be back-to-back 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar in March. The Elephants beat Niger in their Group K opener before a shock 2-1 loss away to Ethiopia. (African Football)
