Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullah Umar Gandauje, has encouraged private organisations and wealthy individuals in the State to rally round Youth to actualise their talents on sports and make them proud of the profession.
The Governor made the encouragement on Friday during the closing ceremony of 37th Edition of Ramat Cup International U-16 Boys Soccer Tournament organised by the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), held at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
Ganduje represented by his Deputy Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna who is also the National President of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) maintained that sport is one of the bedrock of Youth development that when fully utilised, stands to make them self-reliant.
“My message is for the youth to come together and for our private organisations as well as wealthy individuals in the state to come together, to make way for the youth talents which we are always scouting for.
“I belief by now, our policies on youth development are quite visible, that is why the present administration created the whole Ministry of Youth and Sport Development as part of its effort to solidly empower our youth and improve their talents on sporting activities,” the Governor noted.
On the Ramat Cup Competitions, Dr. Ganduje expressed optimism that apart from the health and physical advantages of the games, they equally serve as way of developing sport talents that one day make the youth to become world champions.
“Through these young talents as we are witnessing, we can be able to model from this early stage and fish out the professional players who can represent this country at the world level games and of course, this is how people like Kanu started,” said Ganduje.
He expressed his appreciation for the successful conduct of the 37th Ramat Cup tournament competition, describing the performance of the players and their turn out as quite excellent and encouraging which he attributed to the good arrangements made by Kano State Government in hosting the competition.
Commenting on the Edo 2020 National Sport Festival, Ganduje hoped that Kano Players are going to perform to the highest expectation of the good people of the State, recalling that “in 2018 our players went to Abuja where Kano State did wonderfully and I belief this year too will be a wonderful year for Kano State.”
Kwara State defeated Bauchi State by one goal to nil which makes Kwara State to emerge winner of this year’s Ramat Cup.
Prizes were also presented to the best players, teams and notable people who contributed in one way or the other to the success of this year’s Ramat Cup U-16 Boys Soccer Tournament.
