Arsenal are reportedly in the process of offering Bukayo Saka a new five-year contract.
According to The Athletic the Gunners are hopeful that the 18-year-old will commit his long-term future to the club.
Saka has enjoyed a breakthrough season in North London. The London-born winger, who is an English national of Nigerian descent, made his senior debut for the club under Unai Emery and was the first player born in 2001 to play in the English Premier League.
He has 18-months left on his current deal, but Arsenal remain confident that they can fend off interest from elsewhere as they see Saka as being an important part of the club’s future.
Saka has also showcased his versatility this season, slotting in at left-back to cover an injury plagued area for the Gunners and while his preferred position is further upfield, he has impressed in a more defence role.
In total, he has directly contributed to 10 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions this season, while he was also named man-of-the-match following Arsenal’s 4-0 thumping of Newcastle United on Sunday. (African Football)
