The maiden edition of the Asisat Oshoala Women’s Pre-Season Football Tournament is now underway at the Bishop Aggey Football Pitch in Mushin.

FC Robo, COD United Ladies, Royal Toms Ladies, Kadesh Ladies, FC Phoenix Ladies and Tokas Queens are participating in the event designed to put teams in shape ahead of the 2015/16 league season.

According to the financier of the competition, Asisat Oshoala, the main objective of the event is to give back to the public and also encourage girls to take their football careers to the next level.

“It gives me joy to have initiated this tournament in order to give back to where I started from,” the Liverpool Ladies forward said.

“We all have our beginnings as footballers and always have stories to tell. I thank God for my career and hope to see these girls attain greater heights in the future,” the FC Robo product continued.

“I’m using this medium to urge participating teams to be good ambassadors.”

The competition will take place from February 23 to 27.
