Oliseh’s days as Eagles coach numbered —NFF top shot •Embattled coach eats the humble pie, apologises

By Daily Sports on February 9, 2016

Super Eagles Chief Coach, Sunday Ogochukwu Oliseh’s days with the senior national team may be numbered if the words of an enraged top shot of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are anything to go by.

Oliseh, who took over from his former team mate, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, last year has been engaging his employers and perceived enemies among some of his former colleagues and fans in a war of words.

The latest was a video-recorded message which he posted on his blog calling his critics “insane” people who have been giving him conditions to either write positive stories about him or even giving him names of players to invite to the national team so they can make a deal together.

The NFF top shot however said that “whether we like it or not, Oliseh will go at the end of the day. (Stephen) Keshi didn’t say as much as Oliseh has said so far. We must start to have standards in our system. If Keshi could be asked to go for saying less, what stops Oliseh from going too?”

The official shockingly revealed that Oliseh was not a collective choice of the NFF, adding that the Delta-born gaffer was imposed on the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, by another influential member of the board.

He stressed that other indigenous coach have come and gone but that none of them have given the NFF much headache like Oliseh, who recently indicted the NFF, claiming that the CHAN Eagles were neglected during camping for the Rwanda championship and that he had to spend $4,000 of his personal funds to feed the players.

Meanwhile, Oliseh on Monday sent a letter of apology to the NFF over his “insane” outburst.

A close source to the Eagles coach disclosed: “Oliseh has just sent a letter apologising for his utterances and actions.

“He said he is sorry, that he never wanted to attack the NFF or embarrass them, but rather he wanted the whole world to know they have not been given money.

“He also said he has been very frustrated after the heavy attack on him and his team after their exit from the CHAN.”

Oliseh’s seven months in charge of the Eagles have been marked by controversies.

He fell out with former captain Vincent Enyeama with striker Emmanuel Emenike also quitting international football during that time.

He has also gone public with the money problems affecting his team at CHAN to the embarrassment of his employers.
