Icardi On Target Again As PSG Brush Aside Lille

By Daily Sports on November 23, 2019

Paris St-Germain welcomed Neymar back from injury as Thomas Tuchel’s side defeated Lille to extend their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to 11 points.

Brazil forward Neymar had been out of action since injuring his hamstring while on international duty in October.

Argentina striker Mauro Icardi, on a season-long loan from Inter Milan, scored his 10th goal in nine games to put hosts PSG ahead after 17 minutes.

Angel di Maria doubled the advantage midway through the first half.

Julian Draxler missed a glorious opportunity to add a third for his side when put through on goal by Di Maria’s pass in the second half, while Edinson Cavani scooped a shot over the crossbar in injury time.

Neymar, who has featured in just six games for PSG this season, provided moments of trickery and managed 65 minutes of action before being replaced by Kylian Mbappe.

Visitors Lille lost assistant coach Joao Sacramento to Tottenham following the appointment of Jose Mourinho this week, and were unable to hurt the French champions despite Lille midfielder Xeka forcing a good save from Keylor Navas in the opening minutes. (BBC)
