Breaking News: DR Congo thrashes Mali to win 2016 CHAN

By Daily Sports on February 7, 2016

DR Congo minutes ago romped to an emphatic 3-0 victory against Mali in the final of the 2016 African National Championship (CHAN) at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda. The dominant Congolese deservedly lifted the trophy courtesy of a brace from the excellent Mechak Elia and a fine strike by Jonathan Bolingi.

The goals started coming from 29 minutes when Mechak Elia picked up a long ball down the left, cut inside and fired a rocket past Djigui Diarra from a tight angle.

The Leopards stretched the lead in the 62nd minute when Mechak Elia produced another fantastic goal after picking up a through ball, rounding the goalkeeper before slotting into an empty net.

Jonathan Boling completed the rout in the 73rd minute with a low, rifled shot from the edge of the box.

Ivory Coast won the bronze after beating Guinea 2-0 in the third-place match that preceded the final
