National President of Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC), Prince Vincent Okumagba, has applauded Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Amaju Pinnick and his executive committee members for providing sterling leadership for football in the country despite stiff opposition by detractors of the number one sport in the globe.

He further thumbed up what he described as the unique leadership qualities Pinnick has provided in the NFF which further manifested at the AFCON qualifier game against Lesotho – during which the Super Eagles recorded her first harvest of goals in qualification matches in recent time.

The SESC President spoke during an exclusive telephone conversation with Daily Sports. He added that the overwhelming encouragement extended to the team helped in no small measure to up the performance of the side against their hosts, who put up some great measure of resistance against the more adventurous Eagles team that played as if their whole lives depended on the match.

“I must vividly point out here that Amaju Pinnick and his team provided solid background that enabled the three-time African champions to play their hearts out to earn the result. It was one of the games Eagles have played and I urge that such posting continues to be the next stop for the senior national side throughout the remaining games in the qualifiers. The way and manner Lesotho challenged the Eagles headlong was another factor that produced the kind of result we are celebrating today,” Okumagba said.

Okumagba insisted that it was a well-planned AFCON qualifier as NFF never left anything to chance, which translated to the kind of determination, focus and confidence without relaxation from the referee’s blast of the whistle till the signal to the end of the proceeding. The mindset of both the technical crew and the players were same hence there was total cohesion amongst them that flowed in the field of play, he further pointed out.

“It showed that the administrative foresightedness of Amaju Pinnick and his board have begun to fully manifesting as the house is fast settling down for work. I see the greatness of the game fasting emerging as the atmosphere is settling for proper administration of football.

“The Eagles have come and I am optimistic that from thence on Nigerians will see more goals scoring team and called on stakeholders to embrace the NFF reborn,” Okumagba said.

The SESC President, whose birthday came before the qualifier game of last Sunday (November 17), informed that it was a great day for him as the national side honoured him greatly.  He thanked Pinnick and his executive for their relentless efforts to push football to greater height.

“I must say without any prejudice that Amaju Pinnick has started exhibiting his pedigree in football administration and the country will be the better for it at the end of the day the part he is driving the game towards no doubt is way forward and right direction. NFF provided seats for the supporters club and we are grateful for such gesture from the NFF supremo,” Okumagba said.

He vowed that he and his members would swim and sink with this NFF leadership because of its sense of responsibility, direction and focus, for the good of the game. “We thank all those that made Lesotho trip and the overwhelming result possible and urge that we should all imbibe the culture of working together with Amaju Pinnick able leadership of the NFF to place the country and her football where we should be in the continent cum world,” Okumagba stated.
