The President of National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF), Tijani Babangida, MON, has urged Nigerian footballers present and past – including those in the Diaspora – to rally round ailing former Nigerian star Kadiri Ikhana, who is down with hip and spinal problems.

Babangida made the demand in a chat, as he reiterated the mission of the players’ union to always be there for the country’s footballers whether active or retired.

He particularly admonish current players to make financial contributions to the ‘GET KADIRI IKHANA BACK ON HIS FEET FUND’ put in place by NANPF to raise funds for the medical treatment and health support of the former Sunshine Stars, Enyimba of Aba and Kano Pillars coach.

“Let me seize this opportunity to plead with all footballers to kindly come out and give financial support to one of our own, Kadiri Ikhana.

“He seriously needs our financial and moral assistance at this time in his life. I want us to be our brother’s keeper,” the soft-spoken and hardworking former Nigeria and Ajax Amsterdam star winger said.

Babangida requested that all donations should be paid into NANPF Unity Bank Account no

0026022154 , marked “Kadiri Ikana Support Fund”.
