Global Network Sports Identifies With Imo Sports Commission, Lauds Ihedioha for Revival

An Enugu-based sports development company, Global Network Sports Development, has lauded Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State for his efforts in resuscitating sports in the state.

It also commended the appointment of Chief Fan Ndubuoke as Chairman of the Imo State Sports Commission, describing him as a round peg in a round hole.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Network, Comrade Godwin Ogenyi, made the commendation in his address during a recent courtesy visit to the Imo State Sports Commission, Owerri. He noted that his organisation was attracted to Imo largely because of the current innovation and reformation going on in the state in the past five months.

Ogenyi revealed that his group believes in using sports as a veritable tool to develop human capital. He said: “We in Global Network encourage the process of using sports as a veritable means of human capital development, employment and deployment. For us to achieve this noble aim, we must make sports an everyday thing in the life of every Nigerian.

“With well-organised and efficiently administered sports, we can create huge foreign exchange, develop wonderful players from various games as well as deploy them.

When we accomplish this, we would have succeeded in using sports as an avenue of fighting crime, providing entertainment, jobs, healthy environment and quality living.”

Ogenyi stated that Global Network was initiating a competition among tertiary institutions in Imo State in order to realise the above mentioned goals.

“From here, we can spread our tentacles to the 27 LGAs and also promote the idea of sports manufacturing companies in the state,” he stated.

In his remarks, Ndubuoke thanked Ogenyi and his team for their dream project. He noted that the commission came into being for the purpose of making sports in the state bigger, better and brighter.

The commission boss said the Governor would be ready to and eager to partner with institutions, corporate organisations as well as sports bodies and even government agencies that come up with programmes and projects on sports.
