Olori Babes of Warri and Pelican Stars of Calabar have gained promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) for the 2019/2020 season.

Pelican Stars were relegated at the end of the 2017/2018 season but have now sealed a comeback to the topflight after just a year by beating Moje Queens 3-0 in their final game of the NWFL Pro-League in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Diminutive attacking midfielder Chiwendu Ufuomba scored a brace in the 20th and 45th minutes, while her striking partner Joy Okoronkwo scored at the 82nd minute to make it 3-0.

In the other match of the day, Olori Babes defeated Police Machine FC by 2-0, thus becoming the only side that didn’t concede any goal at the NWFL Pro-League playoffs.

Eunice Godwin and Chika Idika scored in the 60th and 82nd minutes respectively to seal their team’s spot at the 2019/2020 NWFL.

Olori Babes finished with nine maximum points after winning all games played. Pelican Stars of Calabar finished with six points.

Meanwhile, Police Female Machine of Uyo and Moje Queens FC remain in the lower division for another season.
