Acting Chairman of Chairmen of Female Clubs Owners of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), Ebike Timitimi, has lauded the 16 teams participating in the 2018/19 women league season for their high level of discipline and dedication exhibited despite the daunting challenges facing them.

Timitimi, who doubles as Chairman of Bayelsa Queens FC, in a press statement equally thanked the Aisha Falode-led Board of NWFL for their commitment towards the growth of women football in the country.

He equally commended the professionalism of the Nigeria Referees Association Appointment Committee, noting that many teams won games on the road as against past practices where win-at-home was the syndrome.

Timitimi however called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) “to support the women teams in the country by way of providing balls and other items for them since they are the bedrock of most of the national women teams of the country.”

He also encouraged the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to institute a Female Cup competition to foster the rapid growth of the game in the continent.

Timitimi, at the same time, called on cooperate bodies and sponsors to identify with the women league “as women football has brought more laurels to Nigeria than the male.”
