By Obaseki Anthony on September 26, 2019

Nigerian international and Viktoria Plzen of Czech Republic forward, Ubong Moses Ekpai, has delivered on his N100,000 pledge to home state club, Akwa Starlets, also known as Dakkada FC.

Ekpai made the pledge shortly before Starlets’ Super 4 final against Adamawa United which the Dakkada boys won by a 2-0 scoreline to be crowned champions of the Nigeria National League 2019/2020.

The former Akwa United, Maccabi Haifa, Liberec and FC Zlin fleet-footed attacker, who recently put pen to paper on a lucrative loan deal at Czech Republic’s Dynamo Ceske, presented the largesse, Tuesday, during Starlets’ evening training session.

Speaking through the Chairman of Akwa Starlets, Coach Aniedi Dickson, Ekpai said he was privileged to identify with the success of the team – describing the achievement as ‘unprecedented’ and ‘lofty’.

He promised his imperishable support to the team in their future endeavours and besieged them to make Akwa Ibom proud in the NPFL.

Meanwhile, Starlets will face off against Benedi United of Port Harcourt in a pre-season friendly match today, Thursday, September 26, by One O’Clock in the afternoon at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.

Head Coach Caleb Esu says the match is one of many friendly matches lined up for his lads to put them in the right frame of mind ahead of the commencement of the NPFL 2019/2020 on October 16.
