Chelsea have started negotiations to improve contracts to Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori.
According to the Guardian, the Blues hierarchy are ready to roll out five-year contracts to the Anglo-Nigerian duo after impressing under manager Frank Lampard.
21-year-old Abraham has found the back of the net seven times in seven competitive matches, including a hat-trick at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.
His current deal was signed in 2017 and will run through to 2022, having already played at
Bristol City and Aston Villa on loan in the Championship, scoring an impressive 52 goals in both spells.
For Tomori, he has started Chelsea’s last three competitive games, also getting on the scoresheet in the 5-2 triumph at Wolves.
He was ever-present on loan at Derby County last season, under Lampard’s watch, with the Rams reaching the Championship play-off final, but losing 2-1 to Abraham’s Villa.
His present Chelsea deal expires in 2021.
The move to tie the youngsters Abraham and Tomori’s futures at Stamford Bridge is a sign they are part of Lampard’s rebuilding project.
It also puts both players in the spotlight of where their international allegiance lies. Abraham and Tomori are both eligible to play for either England or Nigeria but are yet to decide which country to switch to.
